They pulled up in the parking lot of the College of the Mainland in Texas City, to pick me up from the SPE conference I was attending. When they pulled up, they both jumped out of the car and opened the doors for me to get in. I just had a minute to bring my camera phone up to my eye and take a shot as I walked toward them.
My eyes started filling with tears. It reminded me of when I used to pick them up from school. Here I was standing on the sidewalk waiting for them to come and get me. I hate to drive in Houston. They came to get me up so I wouldn't have to drive.
When I saw them jump out of the car my heart flooded with memories of when they were little and the table was turned and I was waiting for them to step off the curb and climb into the car. Where has the time gone? My little boys are grown men. Kind and thoughtful. Eric prepared dinner for us and Travis kept my glass full as we chatted and reminisced. I am so grateful to have children who come to pick me up so that I don't have to stand on the curb or drive in city traffic. My eyes are moist even as I write this. I'm growing older and my children are growing up.
