Taken with my iPhone
Let's face it. Photographers are snobs about their cameras. If you can rattle off lens apertures and names like Hasselblad, Canon and Nikon you can join the cool club. Although I am not a formal member of the club, I can speak the language. But what about the iPhone? I'll admit I was skeptical at first of photographs taken with a camera phone. However, I think I am now going over to the dark side.
I've had a blast learning how to use the iPhone. I have a long way to go before I have it mastered but I'm having a lot of fun learning.

Balloon over Snowmass
While I was in Snowmass Village I got up before dawn to see what I could find to photograph. This was a much more difficult task than I anticipated due to so much development in the area. A ballon loaded with sight seers came right over my head. Everyone waved and said good morning. What a nice suprise. If I ever get to go back, I think that riding a hot air balloon would be the way to go and see the sights.

Dog Days of July
Our group of photographers at the workshop in Aspen fanned out among the crowd on the 4th of July to take pictures of our choice. Guess being from a small town, I had never seen so many people with their dogs and so many different types of dogs. My choice was to do informal portraits of the dogs. I think I identified most with them. It was hot. I didn't want to be in the hot sun at noon and I was tired. Actually, the dogs paid more attention to me than the people.
This little guy had an attitude.
In ecstasy with the scratching.
Where was his beer?
Some dogs showed me their best side!

Rodeo Colorado Style
One of the styles of photography we were learning at the Mona Kuhn workshop was to take impromptu portraits using available light. Down the road from Anderson Ranch in Snowmass Village there is a rodeo every Wednesday night during summer. So, I decided to go to a rodeo and see how it is done Colorado style. And yes, I did get the little boy's parent's permission BEFORE I took his picture. They said yes and he was quite willing to grin for me.

Everyone at the rodeo was very nice and didn't seem to mind me taking their picture. I liked the intimacy of the small arena and the easy access to the cowboys and cowgirls. Thanks everyone!
